Therapy for College Students

Empowering You to Thrive

Why Choose Counseling During College

College can be overwhelming, whether you're dealing with academic pressures, social relationships, or navigating your future. I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what's going on in your life. Together, we'll work on developing healthy coping strategies and skills to manage the stress and uncertainty that come with this phase of life.

Counseling Tailored to College Students

As you adjust to the demands of college life, it's normal to experience feelings of self-doubt, loneliness, or anxiety. I specialize in helping college students like you identify what’s holding them back and finding the tools to thrive, both academically and personally.

  • Find Your Voice: Through Narrative Therapy, I’ll guide you in reshaping your personal story so that you feel empowered to take on new challenges.

  • Build Emotional Resilience: With DBT, I’ll help you develop practical skills to manage your emotions, handle stress, and stay present in the moment.

Hi, I’m Matty

I’m a licensed counselor based in Boulder, Colorado, specializing in therapy for college students and young adults. College life is an exciting but challenging time, filled with transitions, new experiences, and personal growth. My goal is to help you navigate the ups and downs, build resilience, and find your purpose as you create your unique path.

Using a combination of Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I work with students to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while helping them manage stress, anxiety, and the pressures of college life. I believe that everyone has the power to take control of their story and become the best version of themselves.

A little more about me

  • I use a humanistic approach, understanding that each person has unique qualities and strengths. I like to help clients use these unique qualities and strengths to better understand themselves, their world, and how they can build confidence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. No matter the struggles we face, no matter the pieces of ourselves that we wish to change, we are enough, and with the right help, we can overcome and persevere.

  • The last couple of years have been rough, and the pandemic has made it harder and harder to connect. I currently offer both teletherapy and in-person counseling at the Boulder Healing Hub.

  • I got my start working in schools, teaching everything from kindergarten to middle school. When I was teaching 4th and 5th graders in Denver, I noticed a huge lack of mental health support for kids, so I went back to school to become a counselor. Even now, working as a high school counselor, I notice that these kids still lack critical support for their mental health, and I’m hoping to do everything I can to help fill that gap.

  • I am a licensed psychotherapist, an LPCC, and a licensed school counselor. I am also a certified specialist in anxiety and stress management, trauma and crisis management, and grief and loss.
