A THERAPIST YOUR TEEN CAN ACTUALLY TALK TO
Therapy for Teens
The emotional and behavioral changes that come with adolescence can leave teens and parents both feeling confused and uncertain. I work closely with both — getting a full picture of what's going on so the plan actually fits your teen, not a one-size-fits-all script.

teens seek therapy for mental health concerns, so you’re not alone in your concern for your child. The reasons vary and don’t always involve a major life event.
Hi, I’m Matty
A therapist who started out in the classroom
Teenagers are dealing with a lot at once – anxiety, depression, family conflict, the jump into adulthood, all while figuring out who they are underneath it. Navigating that requires trust first, and trust isn't automatic. You have to feel like the person across from you actually gets it before any of the rest matters. I spent years teaching in schools before becoming a therapist, and that time taught me how to really connect with teenagers and young adults, not just talk at them.
Once that trust is there, the work moves quickly. I use Narrative Therapy and DBT, which help someone see the story they're stuck in and give them what they need to write a different one. And that’s my expertise – building the kind of trust that allows someone to actually show up as themselves, and knowing exactly what to do once they have.
MY APPROACH
Adolescence is a challenging time for both teens and parents, and it can be difficult to navigate the emotional and behavioral changes that come with this stage of life. I take a collaborative approach, working closely with both parents and teens to develop personalized plans that address their unique needs.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in narrative therapy and DBT, but I recognize every teenager is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each client.
Narrative & DBT
I work collaboratively with my clients to help them develop coping skills, build resilience, and foster healthy relationships with themselves and others.
Coping skills that last
Therapy should be a safe and supportive space where teenagers feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
Heard, understood, empowered

COMMON QUESTIONS
-
If it feels like the same fight on repeat, your teen has pulled away, or everyone's walking on eggshells and something needs to change now — an intensive is worth talking through. If it's more of a steady, ongoing need, weekly sessions are usually the better fit. We'll figure out which on your free consult call.
-
I'm out-of-network with all insurance but provide a superbill for reimbursement.
-
Teens get a confidential space, parents are looped in on safety concerns, and session content otherwise stays private.
-
Telehealth is available across Colorado for both individual sessions and parts of a Family Intensive. Get in touch and we can figure out what makes sense for your family's situation.
