TEEN & FAMILY THERAPY | BOULDER, COLORADO

Therapy only works when your teenager trusts the person sitting across from them.

Hi, I'm Matty.

I spent nearly a decade working in schools before becoming a therapist. That time taught me how to connect with teenagers, not just talk at them. Today, I work with teens, young adults and families navigating anxiety, depression, school, relationships, family conflict and the complicated transition into adulthood.

Teen & Young Adult Therapy

For teens and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, school stress, relationships, family conflict, or simply feeling stuck. I focus on building trust first, then figuring out together what will actually help.

WAYS WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

Family Intensives

Sometimes, ongoing therapy isn't what your family needs. Family intensives are structured, short-term therapy built around a specific challenge your family wants to change, with a beginning, a plan, and an end.

  • Focused, short-term — weeks, not months

  • Built around your family's specific pattern

  • Ends with a plan you carry forward

MY APPROACH

Therapy has to work for the person sitting in front of me.

Narrative & DBT techniques

My therapeutic approach is rooted in narrative therapy and DBT, but I recognize every teenager is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each client.

Skills for real life

Therapy shouldn't only work in my office. We work on ways to handle stress, relationships, big emotions, school and whatever else your teen is navigating in everyday life.

Trust comes first

Teenagers aren't always excited about starting therapy, and that's okay. My first job is to build a relationship where your teen feels comfortable being themselves. That's what makes the rest of the work possible.

MORE ABOUT MATTY

I worked with teenagers long before I became a therapist.

My path to counseling started during nearly a decade working in schools, where I saw how many teenagers were struggling without enough mental health support. That experience also taught me something I still bring into therapy every day: how to connect with young people, earn their trust, and meet them where they are.

I'm an LPCC and licensed school counselor with a master's degree in counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I also hold certifications in anxiety and stress management, trauma, grief, and loss.

Outside the office, I'm a dad to two girls and usually happiest spending time outside with my family and friends or getting overly invested in a board game.
